The U.S. has 63 national parks and more than 400 protected areas in the National Park System. And, every so often, the National Park Service offers free-entry days to encourage outdoor exploration.
The next such free entry day will be April 16, the first day of National Park Week!
Where will you go? Visit the National Park Service website for inspiration. The recently published Lonely Planet Ultimate USA Travel List is also worth a browse.
Pro tip: While you’re enjoying free entry at a national park, it’s a great time to consider buying a yearly pass, especially if you live near one. National Park entrance passes cost $80/year and help maintain our beautiful natural spaces.
